Asma Shamim is a solicitor in the Commercial Property Team at Carter Lemon Camerons LLP and specialises in commercial real estate transactions.

Asma has experience in all aspects of commercial property ranging from acquisitions, disposals, development, lettings, sales and property financing as well as property portfolio work she has a particular interest in Commercial Landlord and Tenant issues. She advises major telecommunications clients as well as corporate organizations, charities and individuals.

Recent work includes

  • Acting on a major redevelopment and portfolio re-financing for a housing association, during which she negotiated and reported on the Certificate of Title which the sellers’ solicitors offered to its funder.
  • Heading the team acting for a major telecoms client in acquiring leases of rooftop and greenfield sites for the installation of telecommunications equipment in London and nationally
  • Acting for an institutional Landlord in the granting of leases of high quality office space at multi-let buildings in prime locations in the City of London.  This included the restructuring of various tenant’s leases and dealing with the sale of the building subject to all the occupational leases.
  • Acting for property investors /developers and the public sector in acquiring sites, funding and constructing the development through to letting or disposing of the completed development.
  • Acting for NHS Trusts in connection with the renewal, assignment and granting of new leases of retail shops and cafes in Hammersmith and Oxford Street.
  • Acting for a developer client in the acquisition of freehold land for the development of a medical centre thereby necessitating agreements for lease conditional on the satisfactory completion of the Landlord’s build works with long and short retail and residential leases to be entered into upon Practical Completion.

Asma was educated at City University in Islington. Asma was admitted in 2004 and joined the commercial property team. Asma was glad to be assisting in the purchase of an investment opportunity by an off-shore company of a City office block let to a blue chip investment bank at a purchase price in excess of £300 million.
Out of the office Asma enjoys travel (including to Malaysia and Thailand in South East Asia and Turkey and Rome in Europe), Asma will be attempting to climb Mount Kinabalu in Borneo this year and enjoys a variety of sports, going to the theatre, and reading.

Asma is a member of Women in Property and Women in Business and speaks fluent Urdu.
