Andrew received degrees in law from the universities of Manchester and Leicester before being admitted as a solicitor in 1995. He regularly advises individuals, companies and charities on contentious and non-contentious employment issues, companies in relation to banking and other commercial documentation and buyers and sellers in relation to disposals and acquisitions of companies.

Before becoming a lawyer, Andrew grew up in Nailsea – in the West Country – and his interest in charities was lived out during a gap year working as a Careforce volunteer doing youth work in a church in South West London.  The commitment to charity issues was further strengthened during his Masters degree course at Leicester, when he was involved in a legal research project for the RSPCA.

Career highlights include:

1        negotiating finalising and drawing down for an off-shore SPV Borrower a £310M facility to buy a group of companies which owned, as an investment, the building which is the London HQ of a multinational corporation;

2        running a David v Goliath style battle for a former employee of a US based bank related to the late vesting of share options following that employee’s termination at a time when the US markets were in freefall

Currently, Andrew finds an increasing amount of his time and energy is devoted to advising employers and employees on tricky employment situations (redundancy, unfair dismissal, discrimination, restrictive covenants after dismissal) which are on the rise at the present time.

Outside the office Andrew combines being a trustee of a youth healthcare charity (Redthread) and chair of  governors of a local primary school with life at home with his wife who is a GP and three children, committed membership of his local church and occasionally indulging himself with snooker or running, including half-marathons.

As a key member of the firm’s healthcare law team, Andrew acts for primary healthcare providers, GP practices and NHS bodies in relation to employment and NHS contracts advice.

He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Charity Law Association.
