Facing Redundancy?

We may all be feeling the pinch either as individuals or businesses, but a little bit of focused legal advice at the right time could be money well invested and help us out in the long run...

If you are an employee looking for advice because you are facing redundancy, you need to be sure that the rights you have either under your contract and/or by statute are being adhered to. It may be that you are being offered a settlement package under the terms of a compromise or severance agreement and you are being told you must see a solicitor for which your employer will make a contribution: we can walk you through that agreement at relatively short notice and make sure you are not being short changed.

If you are an employer knowing that you will have to let people go and soon, speak to us about the available options you have so that from the start you know where you are going and be able to minimise the risk to your business of getting it wrong and it ending up costing you much more than you had anticipated and in so doing jeopardising further jobs.

And finally... remember that from 1st February, the maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal goes up from £63,000 to £66,200 and the limit on a weeks pay (most significant for working out entitlement to statutory redundancy pay) increases from £330 to £350.
