Healthcare and GP Contracts

GP contracts are an important part of the NHS primary healthcare framework. The healthcare team advise on the setting up of joint ventures to take on the Practice based Commissioning role or to provide Additional Services under existing GMS/PMS contracts or an APMS contract from the local PCT.

We advise GPs and other healthcare providers so that they fully understand the implications of the primary healthcare contracts and negotiate the terms which are not prescribed as it is vital that the contract is properly performed once it becomes effective.

Acting for NHS bodies, Carter Lemon Camerons advises on their statutory powers and obligations. This has included advising the Board in making of grants to commercial organisations and charities, and working in partnership with the private sector.

When building up a business in providing NHS primary healthcare, whether as an existing GP practice or a private sector provider of NHS healthcare, proper structuring of the business is needed if the value of the goodwill is important to you.
